Santana Lopez was maybe the first character that made me realize that being a gay woman was ok and not something to fear. I remember how my friends and I would watch every new episode of Glee and Santana’s story truly all spoke to us. It’s how I related to them, and would hint to them of my gayness. In high school her storyline quite literally kept me afloat and made me feel like I wasn’t worthless or alone. I know Naya Rivera may have had some problems in life, but her acting saved mine. My heart dropped the second I saw the news and I truly hope she is found ok, even tho I know it is not likely. I just want to thank Naya for her compassionate and authentic portrayal of a lesbian high schooler/ college student. And no matter what happens I appreciate her work and humanity and hope everyone remembers the good she did for the lesbian community on screen.
